Leader of the UNP Ranil Wickremasinghe had interfered and stopped the attempt made by General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam to enter Parliament from the national list through a conspiracy.

Mr. Ranil Wickremsinghe has come to know that Akila Viraj Kariyawasam is preparing a letter with his own signature to the Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission informing him that he is coming to Parliament from the National List of the United National Party.

UNP leader Ranil Wickremasinghe has summoned Akila Viraj Kariyawasam with immediate effect and severely reprimanded him and requested the Elections Commission not to accept any letter signed by General Secretary Akila Viraj with regard to the MP seat of the Parliament from the UNP national list. President Councilor Mr. Nissanka Nanayakkara, Legal Secretary to the United National Party is the official authorized person to inform who will be appointed to the Parliament from the national list of the United National Party while informing the Election Commission to accept letters only singed by him.

Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe, who was furious with Akila Viraj Kariyawasam for his actions, has told his associates that he will not be given any chance in the party in the future and that he will be removed from the post of General Secretary.

Meanwhile, in a discussion with a journalist close to the UNP leader Ranil Wickremasinghe regarding the political fate, internal situation and defeat of the UNP, General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has said that the UNP was completely destroyed by Ranil Wickremasinghe and Sagala Ratnayake and both of them are directly responsible for it.

UNP leader Ranil Wickremasinghe has also heard about this statement, made by Akila Viraj and in response, he has told a group of his associates that a lot of people had told him that Akila Viraj is up to a fraudulent political deal with Sajith Premadasa.
